Installation Guide

Install the Scenery
1. Please Exit all programs especially Flight Simulator first. This must be done for the installation and if not do so you will fail scenery library setup.
2. Insert DVD-ROM then the installer will auto-start (Administrator login is required for installing all JapanScenery software).
3. If not auto-started please right-click the DVD icon and open by explore. Click "SETUP(Force English mode).bat".
4. Install Option section: Please check if you will use Japan Terrain Mesh Data. The installer will copy the terrain mesh to HDD but if you will not check here it will not be activated on scenery.cfg.
5. Select destination directory. If you like to create a new folder you have to create it from Windows folder.
6. Click Install. Installation will take approx 40 min on average PC environment. Installing on Windows9x may take longer time due to older file system (We recommend you WindowsXP or 2000).
7. If you experience exceptional slow installation please try defragmentation of your HDD. Because of data size 2.7GB and 60000 files we recommend you to defrag your destination HDD prior to installation.
Released Patch
Please apply released patch prior to use scenery (after above installation). Patch will improve several issues especially some critical bugs around RJTT. You can get the patch from the bottom of this page.
Caution for Re-install
If you need re-installing the scenery for the same OS environment you must uninstall all files and especially must delete all related areas (layers) from FS scenery library. Without scenery library deletion you will fail re-install the scenery.
Uninstallation
Uninstallation must be done manually. Please delete all installed files from the folder and delete all related areas (layers) from FS scenery library.

Drive Compatibility or Defective DVD media?
 
If you will experience interruption or error while installation your DVD-ROM drive may have compatibility problem or the DVD-R(ROM) may be defective. Please try following to locate the problem.
 
1. At first, check the DVD disk for any type of scratch.
 
2. Try an alternate DVD-R drive if available.
 
3. Defrag destination HDD drive. One of our testers formerly experienced abnormal installation time (8　hours) and finally failed the installation but after doing HDD defragmantation the trouble did not repeat.
 
4. Then attempt manually copy form DVD. To do this please make a master destination folder on HDD such as \JapanScenery\Tokyo\ then copy them from DVD to the folder.
 
5. While attempting 3, try not copy all 16 folders at once but copy one folder by one folder of each 16 folders manually.



6. If you success this manual installation please add all 16 layers to FS scenery library manually.
 
7. If you will still experience copy interruption or error during some of the steps, your DVD-R media is strongly suspected of defective. Please contact your sales dealer directly.

Our products' DVD-ROM disks are manufactured in the International Standard ISO 9001 based facility or if you purchased from simmarket.com DVD-R disk is also manufactured by international standard and as license agreement there is a policy of no refund and no exchange due to DVD-ROM (or -R) drive compatibility. Please consult your DVD-ROM drive maker for the compatibility issue. However if DVD-ROM (or -R) disk is defective please contact your sales dealer.

Technical Support other than disk error, we provide e-mail support in English and Japanese. You need User-ID which you can obtain from your installer (Setup.exe). Please send an e-mail to our technical support with your User-ID.



Slow Installation?

Because of data size 2.7GB and 60000 files we recommend you to defrag your desitination HDD prior to installation. Avarage time of installing Vol.1 Tokyo Photorealistic Scenery is about 40 mins on WindowsXP. If you exprience exceptional slow installation please try defragmentation of your HDD. Installing on Windows9x may take longer time due to older file system (We recommend you WindowsXP or 2000). Also defrag of HDD might optimize scenery loading time.

Please note that additional 3d objects may cause slightly heavy framerates for RJTT. Be sure to use this file by your own risk.

Can I install in the FSX?
We can only officially provide you technical support within the system requirement appears on the product page and our FS2004 products' installer does not support FSX.

However as Microsoft announced, we assume photo textures may be compatible with FSX when you add them to FSX scenery library manually. About scenery library please refer to FSX help or FSX user community.

But please note that FS2004 mesh terrain and 3d objects are not compatible with FSX and do not add them to FSX scenery library.

We recommend FS2004 to enjoy the full feature of our scenery.
